This GradSpace Polar Seminar aims to raise awareness of the importance of polar research for Singapore and the region. Although Singapore is highly vulnerable to sea-level rise and climate change, polar science remains underrepresented locally, despite its critical role in regulating global climate and ocean systems.

The seminar will feature researchers from Singapore and invited speakers from leading international polar institutions, including the British Antarctic Survey. Talks will highlight how changes in the Arctic and Antarctic influence sea-level rise, ocean circulation, and climate extremes that directly affect Southeast Asia.

The event also aims to inspire students and early-career researchers by showcasing diverse pathways into polar research across multiple disciplines, while providing opportunities for international networking and future collaboration.
